Position Overview
CARIAN is seeking a Senior Data Modeler and Data Architect to support a large Customer Data Asset program for our client in Newark, NJ. This role is central to building the conceptual logical and physical data models that power customer analytics reporting and enterprise visibility.
The position requires deep experience designing Redshift models dimensional schemas and enterprise data structures along with the ability to translate business needs into scalable architecture.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with business SMEs to capture analytical and reporting needs
Translate requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical data models
Design dimensional models including Star and Snowflake patterns for Redshift
Define data standards, relationships, and modeling requirements
Build and optimize Redshift tables, views, and materialized views for performance
Document data flows lineage and governance structures
Partner with Data Engineering to ensure pipelines align with architectural requirements
Leverage AWS Glue, Step Functions, DataZone, and related AWS services
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field required
Master’s degree preferred
8 or more years of experience in data modeling, data architecture, or analytical engineering
Expert dimensional modeling and advanced SQL
Strong experience designing Redshift schemas for performance and scale
Experience in customer analytics environments preferred
Ability to communicate clearly across technical and business teams
AWS certifications are a plus
Ability to meet client security and compliance requirements including eligibility for 810 access which may require United States citizenship or permanent residency.
Preferred certifications: AWS Certified Data Engineer Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or Professional, AWS Certified Developer Associate
Experience with Snowflake or Databricks is a plus

Compensation
The base salary range for this role is $125,000 to $195,000 annually, based on a full-time equivalent schedule. This range represents a good-faith estimate at the time of posting. Actual compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, and other factors permitted by law. In addition to base salary, the role includes eligibility for bonus incentives, a comprehensive benefits package, and a company 401(k) match.
